This is another monthly Blog dedicated this year to my wife Cynthia, forever loved and remembered. I learned a lot from her about relationships and life in general.
Letting Go
I’ve been watching the leaves fall in the last couple of weeks.
One at a time.
Then multiple ones, in a sudden outburst of wind.
I marvel at this vivid display of nature at work… trees letting go of their leaves, held so tightly since they bloomed in springtime.
We people don’t do this very well.
We HOLD ON.
To things, stuff, trinkets, wood, papers, past hurts, resentments, anxieties, obsessive thoughts, disappointments.
Loss and grief.
The list is endless.
And it is not healthy for us.
Cynthia was marvellous at ‘letting go’ of stuff!
She liked a clean counter and a simple house arrangement.
My beer bottle collection in the upstairs hallway and university undergraduate notes in the basement were the first to ‘depart’ when she moved in with me 32 years ago!!!
She was especially good at letting go of hurt and disappointment in her life.
It’s just one of the many things I will remember and always be grateful for with her💕
That’s why this following piece by Joyce Rupp is meaningful to me…
